Chickens

Ok, so in my defense of wanting to be a fulltime country woman, I decided that I want chickens.
Al, was not too sure. He and his sister told me stories about having to put them up and keep them toasty in the winter, making sure that they don't have disease, feeding them and making sure that the other animals don't get to them.
My argument...I will name them all of my favorite babies names...I will play with them every day so that they know who momma is, I am not getting a rooster. AND I have asked both the neighbors on both sides and they told me to get them:) I already have two people that will, buy fresh eggs from me once a week.
so, last week onto my sitting job I stopped into a grain store and ordered six little bundles of fluffy joy!!!
Four Rhode Island Red a golden one and a checkered black and white one. I have to keep them a plastic bin in the garage with a heat lamp until they get their feathers!!!
I am just thrilled, So I am rushing around now and finding what they need to eat etc and am doing all of this on a budget! I will eventually sell eggs on the side of the road and that will pay for the seed.
My son will come out and help me build the hen house. Jerry, Al's BIL will help as well as Al's bff Richard.
Al says that he is not helping...stayed tuned...he can't let all of these men out there with his tools and wood show him up...he'll do it! AND I get my chickens!!!
